They sell a spacer that goes over your tilt / trim rod for trailering. One spacer for motors up to 150 or 200 and two spacers if 200 or over. Does anybody own these. I have the plastic to try and attempt to try and made a set but not sure if the hole in the spacer goes all the way thru or just part way. Thanks in advanve. Beacon Light sells them for $55 ea. Allstar showed me the brochure and dealers get them for about $20 - $25 and sugg. retail price is like $45. Seems like Beacon is trying to squeeze every buck out of us that they can.

just a note,if trailer high enough , just raise motor so it is still in trim mode. motors are designed to take bumps in this mode. as a mechanic told me , if trim or transoms cant handle this mayabe you need a different motor or boat. think of the beating these trims and transoms are capable of in the water is what he told me. told me not to waste my money on these devices

I have a MY Wedge for my Yamaha 150. I have had it for about four years and it works well. Simple to install, takes pressure of the transom and trim rods. For $45 it is good peace of mind and I don't have to worry about too much pressure on the transom or what happens if the hydraulics in the trim motor fail as I am driving down the road. I would say buy it and be done with it. I do not think it is a good idea to trailer with motor supported by the trim rods alone.

I am not trying to sound dumb but I don't understand what the purpose of it is?

Does it take the weight off of your trim, or the weight off of your transom, or both?

Except for bass boats hanging huge motors off the back, I wouldn't think either is very necessary. . . I could be wrong.

The benefit from my point of view is that it acts as a shock absorber when trailering. I was skeptical when I ordered it but its really a good product if you do any long hauls.

I was driving down to the CBBT before Xmas and followed a guy with a center console and a Yamaha 250. Must have followed him for a couple of hours.... Anyway, his engine was supported by the trim locks, you know when you trim the engine all the way up and flip down the locks that keep in place. His engine was wagging like a tail of a dog and I kept thinking that has to be bad for the transom with all that weight bouncing up and down. It looked like his engine could have snapped off at anytime. (His boat looked pretty new and was a highly respected brand, not some old junker). The purpose of the MY Wedge is too reduce that kind of weight on the transom. It is basically a 10"-12" cylinder made of hard rubber with a PVC pipe on the outside of the rubber. There is a hole in the middle of the cylinder that goes around a trim rod. Slide the wedge on the trim rod, lower the trim until the rubber contacts the engine and call it a day. The engine is supported at a much lower angle than if using the trim locks and there is no pressure on hydraulics of the trim rod itself. The rubber cylinder takes the weight of the engine and absorbs road shock.

The other side of the coin - been using the flip down support device on our 1989 Yamaha 200 since new.

Raise the motor, flip the support down, lower the motor until the tilt/trim rods are completely retracted.

Don't know what y'all call long hauls, but we trailer an hour and a half minimum each way each trip.

20 years and no issues.

thanks guys , I've been using a piece of 2X4 as well but thought about trying to make a pair like the wedge, if it works I'll post about it, also I have heard to lower the motor until it hits the rams

Confirmed. At Beacon Light they are $55.00 and are the same as the ones from my-wedge site at $38.90 ($29.95 plus $8.95 used to be 45 plus ship but they lowered the price!) but they have Yamaha logo on them and have a factory Yamaha part number label and bag. These ones come directly from Yamaha and Yamaha's list price at $58.48 and dealer cost is $40.94 (30%). Chris at Beacon Light is aware of the price difference between Yamaha and the manufacturer My- wedge and if you get any kind of service there he will give you one for 40 bucks out the door. I know someone who got one for free but he spent like $1000.00. Blame Yamaha for price gouging, you know damn well they got em from the my-wedge guy for about $15.00 a piece lol
