Hi All,

I am sure there are lots of opinions on this subject; I would like to outfit my boat with 4 of the same rod and reel combos and was looking for suggestions.

I mainly fish the upper bay for striper and was looking at the Okuma Salina SA-55 spinning reels and have no clue on the rods.

Any help would be appreciated,
Mark

thats a loaded question , good cheap rod ugly sticks, up from there ,allstar is my choice but st croix ,loomis, lamiglass all great rods
and then there is custom . your choice on reel is a good one .
I was at the old inlet tackle looking for another reel to add to my arsenal next season and they told me that the salina is the best bang for the buck in the 75- 200 dollar range I have had some issues with my new penns I will never buy another one

Hey Mark, there are many good options out there depending on the kind of money your looking to spend.......What kind of fishing do you do(chumming, livelining, jigging, topwater, ect) and why do you want to have all matching rod/reel combos? I rarely buy duplicate rod/reels because each time I buy a set-up, I'm striving for a specific feel for the type of fishing I'm gonna be doing. For instance, the two rods that I use for livelining are a 2500 series reel with a 6'6" rod that I use when in open water.......but if LL aroung pilings where the fish can get me wrapped up, I go to a little heavier set-up.......3000 reel with 7' rod with more backbone. If I'm chumming, both rods are good to use. I may keep the lighter rig in my hand while having the heavier one in the rod holder. The heavier rod, I have used and got into 4' Sandbar sharks down by the mouth of the bay and landed them fine..........I can also use my lighter rig for perch........so you see, different size set-ups give you more options.

Mark, I like using a 6'6" M/H action rod with a fast tip for LLJ. If you would like to have all the rods the same have you ever thought of have some nice Custom Rods built, I know someone who could give you a really good deal on 3 of them. :D
