Striper season is long gone, goose & duck is over, and there's snow on the ground, so... it must be ICE FISHING SEASON!!! Mollie and I made our first attempt of the year yesterday, and discovered 4" - 8" thick ice at Lake Marburg & 8" - 10" thick ice at Sheperd-Meyers.

The bite was slow early but picked up, and we caught trout, bluegills, yellow perch, and crappie. Hot baits were glow-white micro-jigs tipped with minnow eyeballs. Most of the panfish we found were suspended over weedbeds, and the trout were cruising around open water.

Great report and nice picts, thanks for posting them. If that's Shep-Meyer, it looks like you had the place to yourselves.

Wish our Out O' States weren't so high, I sure miss fishing Shep-Meyer, the big hemlock forest along the road, always gave it a north woods feel.
