with out seeing the rods its hard to say, I had a Sam Scott once, the reel seat broke free on the blank the first time I tried to put a reel on it. But who knows, the ones your looking at might be the catsass. The tld's alone, new will cost a touch over $300 for both.

sounds like a pretty good deal even if you blew the rods out on ebay.

Like danny said the reels are worth it.....I got 2 sam scott rods before my dad and I started heavy into building rods and I still got them....
But my rods are the ones with Aluminum aftco store a butt rods.....Ive had them since I worked done in Cocoa Beach back in 87'....they still look great and have caught a ton of tuna and wahoo.sails etc.... on them......one of them had a eye break off finally but that is a minor repair...they have all aftco rollers on them......
I like the speed guide more now as I use alot of wind on leaders........good luck
