My fishing buddy and I hit the Harbor Hospital boat ramp at 6:30am to a high tide still coming in. As we motored at to the channel we encountered this sailboat
stuck on the bottom and flipped. Not sure what happened.

We moved around several times before we finally found a pocket of steady perch bites. We ended up putting 24 of the nicer size in the cooler.

I also caught this fat26" channel cat as well.

On the way back to shore I saw 5 boats/kayaks trolling for stripers. The Ptap is closed until June 1st. A we were finishing loading the boat one guy came in
fast tot he pier threw a 19 or 20 inch striper on the pier to another guy that quickly put it in a bucket then to his car. Crazy what people will do for one fish.
I bet he was out there again trying for more.

Nice fish catching report!! Always sorry to hear of poaching! You can call and report it anonymously to the MD crimestoppers group: Maryland Wildlife Crime Stoppers

I figured they wouldn't get there to see anything so it would be a waste of time. Truly sad what someone will do for 1 or 2 fish.

Way to go Mike! You are the white perch king in my book.
Just lucky, happened to come across a few. Hopefully it turns out to be a good year.

OK, so based on the original post where is the "poaching"? Sounds to me like a call to DNR, and having them respond would have been a waste of resources, no?
I personally past by that boat trolling on the way to the dock.

OK, that wasn't in the original post, but I'm still not certain the law would prohibit someone from trolling in a C&R zone after catching a keeper in a legal keep zone (doing some research on that now). Now if you saw them catch the fish, box it and then bring it in that would be a different story.
A fishermen comes in hurriedly and throws a striper on the pier to another guy that scoops it up and takes it to the car. Hmm. you see that everyday.

Mike, Hope you get out again this weekend. Always enjoy your reports.

I been fishing fresh water myself so I don't feel right posting on a tidal forum.
Don,

I don't have any say about who posts what and where but I would like to see some of your catches. Just like Andy's and Capt.Nick's. Post a few and see how it goes, who
knows maybe you might convert some of the guys to freshwater.

It seems like obvious poaching activity, striped bass harvest is closed in the river and it was likely not harvested in areas open to harvest outside the river, and those anglers may be an organized poaching group that remove many illegally harvested striped bass.
SteveL,
Trust me they were anything but organized. He was shouting to the men fishing on the dock to pull your lines in, pull your lines in. Then he ran into one bending the rod half over.
I would think you would be a little more discreet hiding the fish. I think it was just a guy out there fishing taking a chance that nobody would pull up on him. I have not been
checked in that area for 5 years now. They need an occasional visit from DNR at that ramp.
