So after our last few trips were somewhat productive we figured we'd try another long day out.

We left Somer's Cove Marina at 6am on the low tide and headed to the sound. Throughout the day and outgoing/incoming tides we tried various sod banks, some drifting and a little anchoring with no real luck. Throughout the day we caught 50-60 7-9" croaker, a half dozen spot (1 @ 10" or so), 2 small stripers 13" and 14", and 5 keeper croaker 10-13". We ended the day at 5pm the few people we talked to at the ramp didn't seem to have had much luck either.

We also had a courtesy inspection from the local Coast Guard, very friendly and polite guys they didn't notice my 2013 sticker until after the inspection but it wasn't a bother to us. At one point we were covered bow to stern in dragonflies oddy enough at the time we were out in the middle of the sound just south of the light, nowhere near land.

Very nice day, not so nice fishing, but at least it wasn't a total skunk.

Thanks for the report. I had similar luck on Saturday, though I was about 40-50 croaker short. I was not too far away near the HI light. No rock, no specs (the fish I was looking for). I saw some minnow pods, but not a single school of bunker.

We actually ran by a school of some sort of tiny silver fish, but I honestly have no idea what any of the prey species look like. We were also hoping for spec orstipers.

We fished from 19-22 JUN all around Nanticoke, Bishops Head, The Straits, and Fishing Bay. Caught maybe 100 croaker the entire trip about 40 keepers, 1 kingfish, a handful of large spot, and one sea robin. Overall it was very slow with a lot of bugs. Thank god for the dragonflies they are trying to eat as many mosquitos and flys as they can right now. I think everything is about 30 days off. I am catching croaker but in my May spot not my Jun spot.

was out Friday north of you south of roaring point. Near channel edge. Caught the normal croaker and spot. Not many croaker above 12 inches. But what I did catch was about 10 catfish in the 2-5 pound range. All this rain may have things a little messed up.

Sounds like it has been a bit slow for a while. We were down there last week working the straits and off Bishops Head with mostly small croakers, a few nice ones mixed in, and also a few blues to boot. All fish were caught jigging ledges. I wanted to hit the shallows but I had my 2 and 6 year olds with me and they were ready to go get some crabs that afternoon.
