We were supposed to be going on Saturday but it was so cold, I was worried about the boat being iced up by the time we got offshore so we went Sunday instead. It was a lot warmer but also a lot more rough. I did not fish or get to take photographs. I just held onto the wheel and tried to keep the boat on top of the wreck. We caught fish but we earned every one of them. We ended up with a nice catch of sea bass with 7 of them weighing over the 5 pound citation minimum. We also caught some bluefish with one long enough for Bob Manus to earn a release citation with. The other bluefish were small and we did not catch too many this trip. We did catch some spiny dogfish and some very impressive congor eels. The plan was to fish a couple of wrecks and then head offshore for some tilefish but with the seas, we decided going further out was not a good idea so we just hit a couple more wrecks on our way back home. There were sea bass on each wreck we tried and we caught some nice fish from each but none of the wrecks were really loaded up. We did catch a couple of nice flounder in the 22-23 inch range. If it had been calm, we would have spent some time trying for them.

Nic Work

Nice work Ken and crew,

I spoke to Charles Friday and was envious re the offshore day you guys were planning. Thanks for the insights the other day but unfortunately I had to cancel each day this weekend because my wife was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital. I sure hope to see you out there soon.

Another nice day Ken, ( well maybe not a nice day but a nice day of catching ) Do you tip your jigs or use them bare ? I have always tipped them but didnt know if they might take the plain jig and didnt want to waste time experimenting when the bite was on. Bmail is fiine if you dont mind answering. And if you mind, that is certainly understood also.
Thanks

Both. They will bite the plain jig especially when the bite is on but when it is slow, meat always is a help.

Thanks Ken, Its appreciated. I just never wanted to waste the time trying so I just tipped them. Of course sometimes or "usually I should say", what ever side of the boat I fish from is the empty side anyway Hahahaha

Thanks again

Nice job Ken and crew! Love to catch those bass! Those congors sure are ugly, the first one I ever hooked I thought I had four 5 lb sea bass on!!! I was not happy when I saw the snake from below!

Lyle, if you use a tie-wrap (4th pic) you won't need to buy jigs OR meat. I don't know what it is about those cable ties, but SeaBass love'em.

Nice work Healthy Grin (As Usual!)

Thanks for giving that secret away on the internet Rob.
My problem has been, I never seem to have the color they want that day. And the last trip out all I had were the really small ones so all we could manage were undersized fish :D
