Had the oppurtunity to buddy boat with Chumlord and crew, Robert, Hamish
and J.C. out of Hatteras, so I took a break from rockfishing and went for it.
Departed Teaches Lair at 0700 hrs and went 27 miles out to the Rockpile.
Seas were a little sloppy 3-5 ft but we were able to cruise at 25-30 mph.
As soon as lines were in everyone including myself was hooked up. We were
all jigging a variety of jigs and they all seemed to produce. I caught 10
Amberjack between 10 and 38 lbs and it was a blast!! My arms are a little sore
today between pulling in some nice fish and being on the jet ski for 7 hours.
I covered 61 miles round trip and burnt 14 gallons. We were looking for some
blackfin tuna and heard there was a bite in the afternoon about 16 miles
from us but we decided to stick it out where we were. Chumlord picked up some
nice fish off the bottom, I am sure he will do a post as well. Met several other
TFers out on the water and on land, it is always a pleasure to meet some of the
people who post on here in person. We were back at Teaches around 1400.
Thanks Chumlord, for breaking up the waves and putting me on the marks.
Thanks Hank, for the great condo at the perfect location. I had an awesome time!
I will post more pics later.

Thanks from Old Salt!

Brian,

Great photos of a great time! I liked the photo of your "console" with GPS, radio, rocket launchers, etc. Nice set up! And all that fun for 14 gallons of gas?????!!!!!!!!!!! Such a deal.

You probably made the right choice of not running north for the tuna bite. There were some tunas, but the ride back was wild and WET!!!!

Look forward to seeing you out at the Ches Light for some free diving this summer. Hope to see you in a striper bite off the Oceanfront soon as well.

Brian,
Nice talkin with you at the dock, my Dad and Rudy's Dad were stoked about seeing you down there. Sorry you didnt get any tuna. A bit of help, try some knots to join your braid to the mono leader without a swivel, you wont get a blackfin like that. they have HUGE eyes!

Brian,
How are you keeping your camera dry while on the water? Enclosure, bag or are you just being "careful"? I went through two nice cameras while being careful. Now I'm using one of the Olympus waterproof/shock-resistant cameras.

Nice job behind the lens, as usual,

Garland
