Air and temp build a breeding ground for bacteria. If u leave it in fridge, also pack it in salt ice, keeps it nearly frozen but still with the fresh taste. Vacuum sealing is best but if not remove as much air as possible, and keep lined with skin on for maximum freshness too.

And yes, NEVER wash any fish filets with fresh water!
