Check out the Shoot-out results so far. The tables have turned. Last year the trolling guys were complaining about the eelers catching all the big fish. Now the trolling guys are killing the bigguns. Maybe we combine the two again(like it was) and make it a real tournament.

It is a real tournament! Four years and over $200,000 in prize money. If you are fishing the open division you can eel or troll. For guys like you, they even opened up a special artificial trolling division to catch the really big ones.

Two thumbs up to Mike Standing for creating a hugely successful striper tournament that has created great business for the entire Virginia Beach fishing and resort community during the dead of the winter.

What kind of "real" tournament do you want? Fish the Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament in August if you want a little more jingle for your dingle! Gotta troll in that one though...

they do a lie detector test each year on the winners, regardless of any protest, and each year, it seems that someone blames another for being over the line, yet this has yet to be proven...

Good luck to all fishing today!

Thats why I avoid the tourney scene all together.

It all a bunch of ego B.S IMO.

And for what it is worth I did get suckered into one this fall, placed in the money, and gave every penny away.

Nothing can ruin anything faster then getting a bunch of prople involved in something for money.

$499 each day
I see that in the rules now that I have read them. I had only looked at the registration form.

"Any boat may enter all eligible days so long as it enters as a different team name each day. This is a one day tournament, however, you may fish three days if you pay three entry fees and enter under a different team name on each of the three days."

Thanks,

Dennis:))

$499 each day wouldn't be so bad if he paid back 20 places, but only 7. Even in most of the King Mackerel tournaments of the SKA they payback 20 places & have a great turnout. Checkout some of the payouts at Official Site of the Southern Kingfish Association . I'm not saying this is a bad tournament, it just could be better. Somebody is making lots of money when its all said & done.
