I've been looking a GOOD bottom machine for 1500 or less.. the Si-Tex CVS-833C sounds pretty good 1kw output hi-def power mode etc.. Does anyone have one? What I'm looking for is good bottom definition. SI-TEX also offers a high performance thru hull transponder for this unit.... kind've pricey but I'm guessing that this is one of those "get what you pay for situations"

I prefer thru hulls, and given the choice I would get the highest watt thru hull I could get, even if I had to sacrifice on the wattage on the head unit. The Furuno FCV-620 with a 1,000 thru hull should fall in the price range. That would give you a 600W, color, digital head unit with a 1,000 watt thru hull if you opted for it. You could go up to the FCV-585, which would again be a color, digital unit, but now you have up to 1KW on the head, and again a 1kw tansducer. You might find one on sale and stay inside your budget, but I think that combo is a little more than you're looking to spend.
