Up at 4 am bright eyed and ready to go. On the way down 64 to Hampton at 5 am. Meet up with, Tony, Steve & Jessie at 7 am at Sunset Creek and we trailer down 264 to put in at Rudee. There are 4 of us fishing Tony's 251 Proline walk around, with cabin heat and curtains-so no problem with the cold temp

9 am and we drop her in the water, she starts up just fine, but 30 seconds later she shuts off like the choke came off. She starts again and shuts off in 10 seconds and so it goes until she won't start. Crank's fine, has a spark, smells flooded, so yours truly is apologizing for flooding Tony's boat, thinking it's my fault. So we take off the flame arestor, I open the butterfly valves and we crank it over to clear the flooded condition. I noticed it doesn't smell too bad and can't see much fuel in the intake, so Jessie notices the fuel pump on this boat is belt driven and the belt has really slack. We crank over the engine and that's it. The belt doesn't have enough tension to turn over the fuel pump and the belt is severly cracked. To avoid creating confusion at the launch, we take the rig over to the overflow lot to perform the repair and we know we have it figured out!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Tony heads off to a parts store with the old belt and returns about 30 minutes later with a belt that is a perfect fit. About 15 minutes later we have everything back on and we crank it and it fires up for a moment.:thumbup::thumbup:

To avoid burning up the sea water pick up pump, we head back to the launch, thinking it's Ocean Striper Fishing "Take 2". Boat fires up and I drive it off the trailer. Tony puts the rig in the overflow lot and we are off to the ocean. Get to the gas dock at Rudee and the temperature gauge is starting to run a little hot and then the overheat alarm goes off. We find a very kind person that tow's us back to the ramp. Boat is on the trailer and we are headed back to Hampton at 10:30am

11:15 am, boat has been dropped at the shop, we are at Sunset Creek. It was a day of no trolling, no knock downs, no fighting fish, no whales to see, no waves to rock us, but it's snowing a little and we are having a beer watching it. Still a good time was had by all!

Good talking to you guys-Danny, Bill, Mike Avery & Louis-Hooked Up. Hope you guys catch a bunch!

I think it is just a boat thing. I got rid of the old Mercs on my boat, payed $40K for brand new engines.........no more problem right? Wrong! Bad starter on a brand new engine. I shouldn't complain, cause since the starter has been replace all has been well. Hope it stays that way for a while. Good luck getting things straight Tony. Get her checked out thoroughly so you don't have problems in the future. Martin
