....and will report that I was very disappointed.

Beer was top-rate and tasty, but the bartender didn't provide much service to anyone not occupying one of the 7 bar stools, so it was tough to get a beer while waiting. Sucked considering we were the only 2 standing . :nono:

The decor of the place is laughable. When I looked at their 'antique' fishing bouys and carved fishes, they aren't anything but "Made in Taiwan" pieces of junk you find at most of the shops on Main Street in Annap. Nothing like the authentic items Dick has at the Boatyard. ;-)

The service was ok. Waitress was pretty disorganized, "Oh I forgot that", and would disappear for a while.

The food was mediocre, at best. Ahi tuna appetizer was ok. And I mean "Ok". I thought I'd step it up by ordering the $18 Kobi beef burger. "A special diet of barley, oats, grasses, blah blah blah gives this meat the most incredible flavors.....". Bull****e. My wife's $8 angus burger was 10x more flavorful than my $100/pound jap meat.

So, while I might be tempted to go there for happy hour some eve, I doubt I'll be heading there for dinner again.

I ate there once and had drinks several times, but all those visits were shortly after it opened. My experience was very good then. I have not been back recently. I eat out so often during my business travels, I am happy to eat at home when I am back home.

Local paper had a review of Lures and gave it an OK write up.I wanted to stop in and see if it was suitable for a future SRRKC meeting.Looked small from the outside - not sure how 15-20 SRRRKC ers would fit in.

$18.00 hamburger :eek2:.

we'd have to reserve the entire place to have our meeting. It probably has a 40 person total capacity. And its not much of a 'hang-out' for boisterous fish chatter.

You and your significant other might find it to be enjoyable.

Gents, while I appreciate the review of the place please keep the bashing to a minimum. The fella that own the place, Chuck, is a SRRKC member and has both attended a few meetings and taken me and the old El Presidente fishing a couple times. He's a really nice guy and also has offered to host various fundraising events there. I certainly can understand everyone's desire to let other's know of their experiences but maybe in a more gentler way. His TF name is CBS and maybe it would be a good idea to shoot him a b-mail and let him know what you thought so future changes could be made for the betterment and long term success of his new establishment. As I said I understand we're just trying to let each other know what we thought and also me saying someone should give a "gentler" critique is like the pot calling the kettle black so I I am fully aware of the hipocracy of the situation. Just thought maybe we could look out for one another a little better.

Cheers,

Evs

Hey Evans, thanks for the heads-up. If it's a brother SRRKC'r, then I'm definitely willing to give the place a chance.:chef:

The fact that the owner might be on this chat board makes the need to 'critique' even greater. I guess I could have said things were ok, and then the service and food would remain mediocre and business would dwindle for reasons unknown to the owner. Just like when there were issues w/ Anglers a few years back. If people told Charlie everything was A-OK, then we'd still be dealing w/ crappy service.

I am not going to tone things down just b/c you've gone fishing w/ this person. But hey, everyone here knows I don't play well with others. :devil2:

But seriously, if you care about this person and his business, then I urge you to direct him to this thread, or at least convey the thoughts and feelings that some people have. And if he cares about his business, then he won't take things personally. Its not personal. Its business.
