Looking to put a spray rail on my 29' Robbins. Boat is wet with any sort of crosswind or chop. Boat will cruise at 18-20 knots. Anyone have general advice? Can I obtain a cheap vinal/pvc spray rail anywhere? Can they be glued on or do they need anchors?

Thanks,
Brian

Can you get a copy of National Fisherman?? There were spray rails advertised in it that were very functional -- looked like s..t. I believe they were hard rubber or vinyl, "r" shaped and fastened with mechanical fasteners.

I second the Smartrails. I put a set on my 29' Robbins about 8 years ago and they have been great. I was worried about the adhesive holding with all of that force from the water, but they are still tight. One rail on each side from the stem back ( I think they are 9') about 1/2" above the chine to the bottom of the smartrail.

thank you for the feedback.

Is 9' long enough for those smartrails? Seems awefully short to me for a 29' boat.
9' actually puts the back end of spray rail under water while the boat is at rest and worked well for me. If you want them longer you simply order the extra rails you want and splice them together using the adhesive. You can run them the whole length of the boat if you want.
