I just got off the phone with MSSA and asked about the fishing grounds for the tournament. I asked about fishing in the rivers and was told that it is Md. waters of the bay only and that it has always been that way. If I recall last year it read Md. waters and tributaries. Can someone help me out? If I'm way off I'll look into increasing my vodka intake to off set this mind wandering. Which means my wife has been right all along. Thanks

The DNR puts out a chart showing the legal waters in spring. Some river mouths are open to certain points of land. After trophy season- some other areas open up.

After June 1st- everywhere is open.

It is up to you to check the rules.

:hysterical::roflguy::hysterical:- it's full by 6:00am. It does move OK- most guys launch pretty quick.

Best to launch about 4:30-5:00 am - then motor out slowly to where you plan to fish.Lines in at 6:00 am for the tournament.

Thanks skip. We're not fishing the tourney, but my yearly fishing trip with my buddies to Solomons is that weekend, due to scheduling conflicts for 2 of the 4 of us. We usually go the weekend before which is not bad at all. My fear is that the tourney crowds will cramp our more casual style. In all seriousness, is the lot full by six? I'm not sure I can drag my buddies out of bed by 4:30 to hit the ramp after evenings with some beveraged. I don't mind waiting in line at the ramp, just want to make sure I have a parking spot.

Look at it this way. It is one of the few public ramps in the area.It will be a weekend right at the peak of spring Rock season.Throw in decent weather and it will be a zoo.Parking there with a trailer is always tricky - some spots are very tough to get out from.I once had to unhook my trailer in order to be able to get out - it was too tight to swing.

You have a good option of going to Buzz's ramp.It will not be as crowded plus puts you right at good fishing.

Point Look Out is also a weigh in station- that ramp gets crowded as well.

I would probably opt to put the boat in the water and spend a night at the Holiday Inn. . .

You could never fish in the tribs past a certain point. For instance int he Pax river, it's normally past the bridge that is off limits. Anything below the bridge and you're fine.

you are much better off hitting the evening shift. they normally are all heading off the water by 3-4. find water that hasnt had 100 boats circling in it for 8 hours.
