Last year was my first season and I didn't get started untill mid July. I had pretty good luck in the South River with chicken necks and my 12 topless traps. I think I am going to give it a shot this weekend and was wondering if there is anything done differently in the Spring? Not looking for anyone's spot or tricks. Just some simple advice would be appreciated. Deeper or shallower? Further up river or closer to the Bay? Are necks still OK for bait?

Thanks in advance,

Zach

Zach - Good luck. I ran 15 traps two nights ago for 90 minutes and had 20 keepers in 6 ft. of water just across the Bay from where you will be crabbing but about the same latitude. Only four #1s, no jumbos. Jim

Jim,

Were you on the East side of the bay in the area I know too?

Dave - Yes, they are up and moving but mostly smaller. Early June should be good, lots if very warm weather this next week.
