Caught and tagged by the Virginia Institute of Marine Science on May 1, 2008 in the Rappahanock River for the Cooperative Striped Bass Tagging Program by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
The fish was caught by fellow rockfish angler expert Kenny Clark of Newburg, MD onboard my boat at the CBBT on January 3, 2009, nine months later. The fish was hanging around the deep pilings just north of the 2nd island when it thought that a 7" Opening Night Bass Assassin looked like an easy meal. When tagged it measured 21.67" and was 23.5" when released. It was one of over 200 fish that day which were returned to the water with a sore mouth.
Kenny Clark was awarded with a $125 check for his efforts. Not a bad day of fishing...
