This fish was tagged in Shady Side, MD by DNR on May 22, 2008 as part of a Maryland Promotional Campaign and was 26.1 inches long.

On December 6th I caught him at Piling #275 at the CBBT and he was 26.5 inches.

I guess he was part of the DNR "Diamond Jim" fishing tournament last summer.

If you catch a tagged fish in VA waters the people at VIMS would like to have it back, some fish are worth $20, others $5. You are allowed to catch another fish in its place without it counting towards your creel limit. All they ask is that you keep it on ice.

When I called mine in, VIMS called me back on a Saturday night wanting to hook up to get the fish. At that point I was back in Maryland. I actually wrote to MD DNR to get the info on that fish since it was not in the VIMS database.

So that is where the little bastard was hiding :D.

Very cool how far it traveled.Great to hear the fish lived after tagging.None of the Diamond Jim Rock got caught this summer- some thought they all died.

Any chance DNR will give you a "late" prize ? Some tag tournaments do.
