Made the 170 mile trek to the Potomac with my friend Chris on Sunday. On the water and trolling by 8:30am. Spent the next 8 hours running the obstacle course of logs and dock boards pouring down the Potomac. Never saw so much debris before. Had a great hit on an umbrella - must have been a dock board - I'll never see that umbrella again :watchout6:

At 1:44 had a good hit on a deep umbrella that came tight - really nice 38" fish went into the box. Trolled another 3 hours trolling, but never got another hit.

Spent the night in Tappahannock, and got on the water by 6:30 on Monday. What a difference a day makes! Just a slight chop, with very little debris left out there. Had a fish hit a John Deere tandem back 175' - Chris reeled in a nice 34" fish. Made a shout out to all in the area, and we were suddenly in a sea of boats :eek2: Stayed around long enough to watch another boat catch a fish right beside us, then we headed further up river to escape the crowd.

At 10:30 had another fish hit a purple head tandem with white hair and white shad back 125' - another 34" fish in the box. Trolled for another hour, and caught one last fish on a Tsunami tandem back 200' - hit the dock by noon and got everything cleaned up for the trip home.

Great two days on the river, and great start to the 2011 season. Can't wait to get back out there! Good luck to all!
