Mr. Riley,

I am contacting you to express my support for your proposal to allow Sunday waterfowl hunting in the State of Maryland.

Many hunters work throughout the week leaving them with only Saturday to hunt. In the case of the Maryland State Parks that forces a large number of hunters to compete for a limited number of public blinds. Fewer hunting opportunities likely cause some hunters to leave the sport and potential new and young hunters to stay away. Dropping numbers of hunters if problematic in that it decreases the licensing fees, taxes and organizational memberships that do so much to preserve natural resources. Allowing Sunday waterfowl hunting is a small step that can be taken to help reverse this trend. As the number of hunters drop we also lose potential advocates for our sport and for conservation or our resource.

I occasionally hunt during the week and it has been my experience that hunter pressure is relatively light during the week, so I do not feel that a Sunday "rest day" for waterfowl is necessary.

I thank you for your efforts.

Waterfowl hunting

What a idea, let's screw the whole state so Harford county can get sunday hunting!

What a bad idea, and the bill has been pulled, we would lose compensary days for the state if 1 county has hunting.

I don't see anything relating to this proposal on the website.
For the reasons stated above I feel more hunting opportunities would be good for the sport.
Apparently I do not fully understand the ramifications of this proposal, perhaps you'd care to elaborate?

sunday

Steve more opportuntitys are great , but the whole state is under FEDERAL waterfowl regs.

Deer can be governed but individual counties, if 1 county decided to adopt a waterfowl sundays the whole state would have to come on board and that won't happen because were a democratic state and most Dems. don't like hunting.

Go to Refugeforums.com and sign up and check out the Chesapeake page, awesome site and Loads of Bull and good info.

Just Say NO To Hunting Waterfowl On Sundays in Va.

We get 60 days to hunt, period. If you include Sundays, the season would be 10 days shorter, and it's bad enough that it ends on the Saturday closest to the last Sunday in January, just when the weather is starting to get "ducky".

For instance in 08-09, you could get rid of the early oct days and gain 4, but we wouldn't be able to start in Nov until the 22nd.

I wouldn't want the season to be the following :

Season Dates: September 20 - September 30 (9 days) For Teal
Season Dates: Nov 22-Nov 30 and Dec 6- Jan 24 for Ducks.

Take out an old Calendar and write in those ducks days..... it looks very short and it is.
