Looking for suggestions before trouble shooting. I just put in points type dist. to replace old electronic that took dirt nap. Everything runs great but when tach wire is hooked up to coil neg. the tach needle runs to minus zero and bounces a little like it wants to go even more. There was a constant voltage wire going to I guess was a module and connected to wire harness side of module that I don't use with this setup. You think possible this was power to tach and I am not getting proper voltage to tach.

The tach needs a constant 12 volt supply with the ignition switch on, in addition to the wire from the coil. Should have a terminal for that. Suggest that you check it with a voltmeter. If you don't have any voltage, I would take 12 volts off of the "run" terminal on the ignition switch. Good luck.

(Also needs to be grounded, I'm assuming you didn't alter that).
