Buggs Island Lake (Kerr Dam Lake) is at 301' level. Haven't seen any water temps lately but the last I have seen generally in the mid 40's surface temp.. Water is reported muddy to heavy stain which should mean will help rise the surface water temps with the warm, sunny days forecasted for Sunday, Monday and Tues.. If we can get the air temps to hold in the mid 50's the end of next week and stay in the mid to upper 40's at night, along with bright sunny days with little or no rain, could be that the spring crappie pre-spawn pattern should begin very soon up at the lake. Ron and I like to fish the pre-spawn and post spawn patterns. Too many boats on the water for the spawn. As far as the local rivers we should start to have reports of the shad run starting to show up next week maybe. Both the Nottoway and Blackwater are nearly back down but they are both running very hard. Both rivers are still stained but their color is looking a lot better. Still have a few weeks before the white perch begin their run and do hope the weather begins turning for an early spring. :eek2:

Wrong! Went over the Blackwater this morning and it looks like it is just about back to normal. Just a few minutes ago I was on the TV Channel 13 web site and there is a weather warning posted. http://www.13newsnow.com/weatheralerts Nottoway river is flood stage. Oh yea. On my way over to Courtland with our knives I passed a VDOT dump truck on Rt. 58. It is 70 some degrees outside right now and he had a SNOW PLOW attached to the front of the truck. Did I tell you all he had a SNOW PLOW on the truck. :eek2:

Acey, the crappie, yellow and the start of white perch is on on the Eastern Shore. Maybe I should say it's on for me. I found a few spots that has been pretty good. The crappie I'm catching are in shallow water no more then 3-4 feet. I am standing on shore. SNOW PLOW, are you kidding???

I think I'm posting too much. Think I will cool it for a while. Taken a break from fishing today. Wife and I are going to Casino in Delaware.
