Hey Guys and Gals,
Just want to hear if anyone knows this is OK to do... :eek2: Can you tie a good bimini w/ 100# mono or is that too heavy? I tie them with lighter stuff all the time, but tying them with this heavy stuff is a pain in the ACE and they dont look as great... Ive tried finishing them off a few different ways and put a dab of super on the tag, but Im not sure and dont want to find out the hard way... I got 1000 yards of 130 power pro with a 150 yard topshot of 100mono... I am planning on using the bimini in the 100# mono with a loop to loop connect to a 280# Flouro wind on for some Big BFT action.. So Im asking guys, does anyone know about bimins in heavy line so I can feel confident in this setup.. or should I do it another way.. THANKS for the help....

i would go with a crimp and a heavy swivel. if you really don't want a crimp use a large uni to uni. 100# will take a bimini, but you need big guides. a tip i have found for the bigger mono it to do your half hitches when the bimini twist is done and when you close it out with the uni wrap, go around four times and instead of just going throught eh open loop and pulling the uni closed, come through the loop and up between the two lines you are wraping. when this sinches down and you cut the tag, it can be shorter and i have never had one unravel. uni to uni is what we use to connect our 100# to 350# sword leaders. need at least 4 wraps and use some type of warm water wax this time of year to get it sinched together, but a cold water wax will stay soft and lubricate the line. just make sure you test the connection with two big guys and wrap the line around your bodies and pull to test the knot and get the knot nice and tight.

I would put a triple surgens on the braid then connect the braid to a spro heavy duty wind on with an offshore swivel knot, then connect your 100# mono with a crimp. Then for your loop connection either a crimp or a bimini, if your guides will hand a 280# wind on it should handle a bimini in 100# mono ( I could be wrong though). The biggest leader that I use is 130# mono and I connect all my wind ons with a crimp and a spro swivel.

I do a crimped loop about 10'' long and incert a strand of waxed dental floss in the crimp about 24'' long. After i make the crimp, I TIGHTLY wrap the floss around the cimp to smooth it down and eliminate the crimp from hanging in the rollers..then connect loop to loop wind on leader....never had a problem with this connection

This is how I would do it...
