Well the plan was to meet at Owl's Creek at 530 a.m. and head out for some Tog. I reach O.C. at 545 a.m. meeting Gus Gordy and Ketchup. The whole trip there I was asking myself if I was totally nuts or what! I pull in and All are in agreement to keep the boat on the trailer and save the gas and bait for another day. Back to the house I go and pull her straight in but figured I'd unhook after it Got a little later to keep the neighbors happy.
About 900 a.m. Ketchup calls and says I think we screwed up it seems to be laying down. I felt the same way and the cabin fever was getting to me soooo Let's go!! We then make the call to the others and we meet back at the ramp without Gus due to another obligation. We head out of Rudee being greeted by 3-4's and a N.E. swell and around 10 mph winds;not too bad. It was a slow ride out but when we FINALLY reach our destination and drop we are greeted by instant pullage from micro bass. Maybe the wrong move? After 30 minutes the bass got bigger but still no love from the Target...Tog. Ketchup draws first tog blood with a nice 5-6lber. and the action picks up with a tog about every 15 minutes not hot and heavy ; but they are all REAL nice sized. Ketchup and I catch 4 or 5 and Gordy is still playing with bass. Things slow down for us until Gordy goes into THE HOG OF TOGS MODE! The man was on fire! He boats several nice fish over the next hour and a half; tagging a few 4-5lbers and releasing them. We ended up keeping 11;all over 17-18 inches. with Gordy getting his Paperwork with a 10lber. 27 inches long.
Around 330 we head for the barn with a dozen bass, 3 Hake and the 11 Togs.
Water temp on the wreck was 49.6 degrees and the bait of choice was Quatered hard crab.
Here's a picture of a couple nice keepers but no camera on the boat so Gordy will post his citation picture Not the best of days but it surely beat the cabin fever. Lots of ALEVE today for my old hind parts!!!!!!
