I tie every day. Last night I looked around my tying table and realized that it was a total disaster. A single hackle sitting here, strands of flash there, bucktail clippings everywhere. So I decided to try putting together a "trash fly". I think it came out pretty good, and I bet I have enough "trash" lying around to do another dozen more. Just thought I would share on this winter day. Isn't that special?

Thanks guys. Joey, keep at it. I am told that my first flys looked like a cat threw up a hairball onto a hook! If you are ever out Grasonville way feel free to look me up for a tying session.

more pics please...

Funny you should day that about the foam. I have been using some black foam that trims the doors of the new BMWs that come in to the dealership where I am a finance manager. Perfect for sliders and other on-and-just-under-the-water stuff. I'll post a pic when I take one. In the meantime, here is a pic of a black reverse-tied deceiver. Simple and sparse, but very effective, and also of a cone weighted purple-backed deceiver. I think we all should post more pics of what we are tying...helps the winter go by faster.

Thanks Todd. You know you are welcome into the tying dungeon of doom any time.

golfinjo - I was there, but only as a spectator this year. After being told well in advance that I had a slot around noon, I recieved a message (as did one or two other local guys) that there was not enough room for us, that they needed the space for the fishing guides and outfitters, as they were really hurting for business. I was fine with that explanation until I showed up and saw two empty spaces that remained that way all day. It was a shame there were no local people tying. Perhaps next year. Had fun though. Good event.

Where's the best source to learn how to post pics on the board? Is it simply dependent on a third-party 'photo-site',or can I export pics from my computer to the board?I think local tyers' work is much more interesting than commercial-retail tyers' work(of course, that stuff is easily viewable),but it seems that most of us are not showing what we tie--I would like to see other's flies and post some of mine. Thanks for those shots of your Deceivers jnicklason.

loading pics

When you want to post a pic, to the the "go advanced" button for a reply, then hit the paperclip icon to upload pics from your computer. Only problem is that you have to scale the size way back if you use this way and the quality is not so great. When uploading, it will tell you the max size you can go, as well as if you have exceeded that size.

I know the "off site" pics are a better quality, but I can't get to those sites here at work.

I would love for everyone to show what they've got. This is the perfect forum for it and one that is really under used. Perhaps a "fly of the week" that can be discussed and debated or taught to those new to the game...

Hope this helps... Here is a Bob Pop ultra shrimp pattern, which I love...

Thanks jnicklason-I sure appreciate you spelling out the photo upload process,it's not obvious to this dolt anyway.Your stuff looks great, and the low res still shows your detail is excellent.Would that I had such beauties to display, but I have been tying both fresh and salt flies,so I'll take a couple shots and post them here soon.
