I'm now checking out a 2001 2802 trophy with twin 225 saltwaters on it. Any opinions and this boat. It seems to be pretty nice less some tiny stuff. I wondered how well it would ride is some slop and offshore.

Thanks

I've always liked the larger trophys I've gotten to ride on them and snotty weather and was comfortable but I haven't owned anything larger than the 2052 so can't speak long term.

I have a 2509 wa 03 same motor. I love my boat . It crusies at 30knts at 4500-4600. Boat handles seas very well. Trophy got a bad name back in the day but I feel they are a great boat now. My 2509 is actualy 27' because of the brkt. The only problem I have had was bad fuel one time burned an injector $$$$ and the stickers on the motor box peel from the sun. Good luck

I like my 2352 walk and have 300 hours on it now. I got it new in 05 and use it every chance I get. It handles 3 footers well and steers true at all speeds. The weakest link on my boat has been the wash down pump and nav lights.

Before you sign anything...go spend a few bucks on a compression guage. I was checking into a motor about the same age...it seemed to run fine but when I put the guage on, I was less than half of the recommended psi. Best advice I ever got!

I almost bought a 1998 once. There was a known problem with some of these boats that you may want to check on. It has to do with the bracket.

Does this boat have an armstrong or fiberglass integrated bracket? Trophy went from a fiberglass integrated bracket to an armstrong sometime after the year 2000 due to cracks forming in this fiberglass bracket. If it has a fiberglass bracket look to the left and right of the motor mounts to see if you see any cracks. Two of the boats I looked at had this problem and I spoke with a Trophy boats rep while at the Atlantic City show one year regarding the problem. He claimed that is was something they were aware of. He said they were going to an AL bracket to avoid the problems.

I ultimately bought a Pro-line 2950 instead but I really liked the layout of the trophy. It would probably have served my family's needs better as it had a larger mid cabin berth than the pro-line. I also think it is a pretty boat. They were made here in MD until earlier this year.

Here is some good feedback on the boats some performance numbers too:

I have a trophy 3202 bought it about a year and half ago now have 550 hours on it cause i fish a lot. I love this boat everything is fisherman friendly. Rides great i have had it out several times with waves up to five feet on the way in and i always feel safe cause she handles it. She cruises 35 at 4500-4600 rpms and handles great between the pilings and around the dock. We looked at used trophies but got a good loan on a new one. At lynnhaven marine she costs 60 000 and we got ours from james river marine for 40000 a little drive but who wouldnt drive for 20000 and they delivered the boat to the boatel for us. I have a 125 gallon fuel tank with the optimax mercury and can go 300 miles on that she does great on gas in my opinion. Lots of cabin space compared to other 23 footers have been on. We had one problem with raw water wash down and warranty covered it. Thats whats nice about the new boat you get a warranty and a better finance rate on a loan. Just something to think about. Take care.
