 Got to Owls Creek at high noon with the plan(and licences) to run to Corolla, but was met with the thrill of several boats returning limited out 1/2 that far. After stopping here and there to play the "chase the circling high speed thousand diving gannet" game, which at first sight you just have to, we pressed past on to the yellow can, then on south. At the 14-15 mile south area off FalseCape we arrived at about 2:30pm to what looked to be promising-diving gannetts, bait balls, water temp 43', and few boats still working around the area, and lots of nets out about 2-3 miles. Trolled around with lines a jiggling in the bait ball, gannets diving together, diving solo here and there until 5:45PM. The only thing we caught was one of the most amazing sunsets that seemed to ride off our port the whole way back. The fish were definately there in the AM according to many reports, and one last boat there with us did boat a 30" late in the day. A late report came in from the CBJ buoy of a few 40" fish caught right before dark, and seperate report of a solo 50#'er plus brought to the dock in Lynnhaven. Any follow up on either of those would be greatly appreciated.
