Just wondering what to do to make this Valentine's a little different.
Does anyone want to share any tradition's or special things they do. Besides the normal Flowers and Chocolate. It's been a stressful year and I want to make her feel appreciated.
Thanks

Rent a good "chick" movie.Although Jaws is a good movie - save it for a later date :D.Ask the video store clerk (female) for help.Trust me - you will hate the movie but cowboy up.

When your wife gets home - have a hot bath ready for her. While she enjoys this - cook dinner (or heat up store bought). Before she gets out - heat up two towels in the dryer.Bring them to her as she gets out.Have a nice candle lit dinner - then watch the movie.Be sure to rub her feet while watching the movie.

Much better then trying to go out to eat in a crowded restaurant.

Skip,
If I do all that, she will be wondering what I did wrong. She will be giving me the suspicous look all night.
Great ideas though, may have to consider parts of that suggestion.

So this is what you should do...

First.. make sure she is about 5 months pregnant.
Then be the sole planner/organizer/head muckitymuck for the state's largest fly
fishing show... and plan it on Valentine's Day
Work on it every day and night for about 3 months. Making sure to ignore her when
she's not feeling great
For the capper... make her work a booth at said show.. on Valentine's Day... 5
months pregnant... Make sure it's a busy one.. with a raffle and about 10 screaming
girls scouts.. just to make it more interesting...

Ya'll come and talk to me when you can pull that off and walk away without a limp...

I use to go all out for Vday. Now I just cook her a steak, and do the dishes. Maybe something nice for desert.

John,

Best thing my wife and I ever did was forget V-day. We were both in agreement (maybe me more than her) that it is a made-up holiday for card and candy manufactures. With that said, how about renting a cabin for the weekend out here in the mountains. Short trip, pretty inexpensive, weather is improving for hiking, etc. Many come with a hottub!!!

I hear ya Jim... we are the same way- and not to mention that our anniversary is in early March, so, we just skip it. Give each other a card from the kid, order a pizza, and call it a night. Simplicity.

However, if you are trying to do something nice- just send the kids to a sitter, or grandparent- and just spend quiet time together. Grab a hotel for the night, have a couple drinks, and relax and spend some time with your best friend.

We usually have a nice dinner on the day itself, then head out the next morning and buy a big bunch of super-discounted chocolates. :pp
