I'm a fisherman, but my boys love to wakeboard. Anyone had any experience putting a wakeboard tower on a fiberglass boat (18 1/2' SeaSwirl DC)? One source says I need
3/8" fiberglass to support the tower. Not sure that sounds like enough.
Thanks, Steve

I wanted to do the same, but the cost was prohibitive... but I'm pretty happy with the cheaper solution we got, which is a telescoping removable tripod pylon. Takes about 1 minute to put it up for wakeboarding or take it down for fishing, and at it's highest definiteley gives an upward trajectory to the tow rope.

Here's the company blurb:

The Swivl-Eze Pro Ski Pylon is designed for both recreational and tournament skiing, and is our highest quality ski pylon. It features a swiveling slip-over head for quick hookup and removal. Features 6" diameter mounting plate with five mounting holes, 2" diameter polished stainless steel pylon.

This is an adjustable height ski pylon 34"-58". It has telescoping brace arm adjustable from 33-56".

Here's a pic of my wife showing the clear upward angle of the rope using this pylon:
