Spent the last few days (except Saturday) roaming around the shallows of the lower James and Warwick Rivers and Mobjack Bay throwing jigs with sassy shads and wedge tails, bucktails, zara spooks, rattlin' rapalas and finesse jerk baits during second half of incoming and first part of outgoing. Caught plenty of schoolie rock and a couple of keeper reds mixed in. No specks anywhere. Fish got smaller each day; lots of 24"+ fish last week. Great time of year to ply the near-by waters with light tackle. Another 3-4 weeks and that will be it in these skinny waters; then we'll break out the trolling gear.
