Headed out in a flat sea. Got to the tip and set the spread. Didn't see anyone hooked up so we headed to the south wall and picked up one yellowfin on a spreader bar. Passed by a few pots and picked up three mahi. Stayed in the area hooked a nice white on a bally on a short rigger.

Fought him for 10 minutes until. He finally made a big jump towards us and spit the hook.

Around 12:30 got in line with the fleet and started to chunk. Tried three drifts and nothing.

Picked up and decided to check the pots again. Caught a nice gaffer on a top water plug!! Then proceeded to use the old chunks and bailed 17 slingers in no time.

At 4pm we picked up and headed back in flat seas. Overall wish we had more tuna, but it was a great trip.

Be glad for your tuna bite!

We chunked there all day without a single tuna pull, saw a few caught, but not the numbers 2 weeks ago. Did kill 40 mahi on the chunk so that saved the day.

Same story here. Hit the pots for some Mahi. Tried some trolling along the North side of the Washington. Did the chunk drift bite thing with the fleet. Saw about 5 tunas caught by other boats but nothing for us. Stayed late and saw a huge group of porpoise run right through the middle of where the chunk bite was. Thought things were going to heat up but no luck. Back at the dock late at 9:30. Trailered the boat back and was home by 12:30.

Couldn't have asked for better weather yesterday.
