So my oil was that milky grey color last week. I checked the fluids and there was no loss of any antifreez so I assumed it came from the raw water cooled risers. I pulled them off and saw water stains inside the exahust manifolds. They are on order and I have changed the oil.

My question is how many times and at what interval should I change the oil to make sure I get all the water/oil out or will there always be some in there? Also is there some additive out there that I can put in the oil to help get all that milky oil out?

Any other suggestions will be appreciated. I just had these engines rebuilt and they have less than 120 hours on them. I dont want to have the engine rebuilt again due to rust.

Thanks
Joe

I thought about that but there would have been water in the other engine as well. The color of the oil was a grey which meant that there must have been alot of water in there. I would think too much for condensation

PW,

If you stop the source of the water, and change the oil, you will be fine. The oil get really hot (~250 degrees) and will evaporate any residual water. Need to operate the engine long enough to fully get up to temp and keep it there for a while.

Thanks david. I hope to go fishing on saturday and that should be a good run for her. If not the run back to deltaville at the end of january should do the trick. I will change the oil one more time just to be on the safe side.
