Yep, wayyyyyy off topic, but it's too darn cold out to do anything but sit inside and go nuts, so I've been eagerly reading anything and everything that reminds me of fishing today.

Anyways, I figured I'd put a post out here about my other big hobby -- collecting and redoing old gas pumps. I do the stuff from the 1950s and before. Dave (spynet000) has helped me unload more than a few of these guys from my trailer over the years. If anyone has any leads on any it'd be much appreciated. I also collect old gas/oil related signs, oil cans, etc. Strange hobby, I know. I just like saving the stuff from the scrap heap as it's not coming back. Here's a picture of one I redid recently that's sitting here by my computer. This was a rustbucket when I got it.

I might be able to help you out, I come across stuff like that all the time when I re do gas stations and remove old tanks and demolish out of service stations. I know there is a gas sign that says 11 cents a gal at a station in aberdeen. and a few pumps a misc nozzles and stuff are around.

Luckily for you dude that one's gone for good. Traded it for something smaller :clapping2: Don't worry, I'm not planning on bringing another beast like that thing home.

By the way, some of you may be familiar with Beacon Light Marina down in Bowleys Quarters. Their old sign was actually a painted over porcelain Phillips 66 sign from the 1950s. I stopped into as about it one day cause they got a new and they gave it to me, but the catch was that I had to take the pole and the cast iron frame. They got it down with a boat forklift no problem, but getting it off the trailer it my house was interesting. Luckily I know someone with a tractor with a bucket! I'm stripping the paint from the sign now, underneath is in real nice shape actually. Wonder if my girlfriend will let me put it up behind the house? :)

Chris-

A bud of mine used to set up the Gulf Oil stations on the PA Turnpike. He was also involved in closing them. He does not have pumps but has a load of other Gulf Oil stuff. He has had it for years. Wit sold the stuff that was duplicates about two years ago but kept at least one of everything else. He has too much stuff to list. Wit now would be willing to part with the rest. Mail me if interested and I will provide contact info.
