Met Dan at Sandy Point at 7 am. Bay was flat smooth as we cruised to look for Spot. Very last of incoming current - had a slow bite of Spot. Current went slack but we still managed to get a few bites. Caught ( and let go ) about 5 small Croakers . Saw a few Rays busting surface along with lots of cicadas.

We had about 15 Spot in livewell and debated where to go. Heard the bite was way up north - long run for two fish. Stayed near bridge and outgoing current started. Lots of hits / run offs and got 3-4 about 17 to 18 inches. Circles did OK hooking the smaller Rock.

Put a 19 1/2 in cooler and then Dan got one just legal that was gut hooked. With two fish for our limit - ran NE to Love Point to look for anchor. Guy that lost it tied a boat fender on it and gave me GPS #'s. Easy run up the bay and soon closed in on numbers. Flat calm - a boat fender would be visible.

No idea if someone cut it loose / ran it over or knot came untied but fender was gone. Used side scan and soon found the likely snag.

With strong current running - figured best to wait to dive this on a slack current another day. Going to be a challenging dive site.

Decided to try for Perch so ran east to Podickery. Current was running really fast - needed 3 ozs to hold bottom in 18 feet. Got a few Perch - one keeper at 11 inches. Tried a few other areas but nothing good. Sky was getting dark and few rain drops so headed in. Cleaned fish at ramp with new cordless electric knife - sweet.

Hi Skip. Was curious how you did as we saw you headed west over the Severn river bridge as we headed east. Hope to get out with you one of these days.
