My parents have lived on the Elizabeth River for about 40 years. Yesterday, I took them lunch and while eating I noticed a lot of fish hitting the surface. After a closer look the entire river was going off. I grabbed the only pole I could find and a small buck tail which was not in the best shape. In a sort time I caught 4 stripers from 12 to 17 inches. In all the years I have been around this body of water I have never seen the stripers feeding as they did yesterday. We have never even caught any stripers off this pier. For a reference they live between the Hodges Ferry Bridge and the old train trestle. Hope this is a good sign of things to come.

I currently work at a shipyard in Norfolk and have worked at another yard close by, there are lots of stripers around the drydocks every night, feeding frenzy in the lights.
