The Lafayette River Classroom Project is a Virginia Zoo education and living shoreline demonstration project on the Lafayette River in Norfok, VA. Over 500 feet of shoreline along the Virginia Zoo's parking lot is being restored with native vegetation and oyster shells for habitat.

Organized by the Virginia Zoo and funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, it includes multiple partners, such as the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Bay Environmental, NOAA Restoration Center, The City of Norfolk Bureau of Environmental Services, Keep Norfolk Beautiful, Elizabeth River Project, and Lafayette Wetlands Partnership.

Volunteers are needed on Tuesday, December 16th to help complete the restoration planting. If you are interested and available please call 757-622-1964.
