Fishing yesterday was less-than-hoped for: about two dozen small fish caught casting under birds near 54. The excitement of the day was a humpback whale we encountered four miles north of the RP buoy. We never saw his head or tail but he rolled 7-8 times and blew air before we had to dodge a ship and lost orientation. The only menhaden balls seen all day were right there so we guessed he was feeding. Didn't see fish marks but threw out a couple stretches while puttering around watching him; nothing.
Note - the humpback ID is a guess; i have seen them elsewhere so it's an educated guess but i could be wrong.

There were multiple sightings of a humpback whale between Smith Pt. and Point Look out during the middle of December. Fisher's Bay Charter even put a couple of pics on their facebook page on Dec. 14th. Sounds like it is still in the northern neck area.
