Everywhere is slow and most of my good spots have been unproductive since mid December. About 4 weeks ago there was a big push of ducks but they must have moved through. Hunted a sure bet the other day and saw 4 shooters usually we see hundreds. We did see about 300 high flying migrators.

Have not seen any big bunches of blue bills but did see a good bunch of cans yesterday but we can't ans shouldn't shoot them this year, I would love to see this duck come back.

I think these big fronts are keeping the ducks that usually move back and forth with the freeze line south of us but that is only a theory.
We have seen a lot of canadians around but they are gun shy. Maybe things will get better in the next couple of weeks.

We hunt sea duck here and there, but there is no numbers of these either, I talked with a guy up in Rhode Island and they have have good numbers still up there and normall they are in fewer numbers by now. so I'm guessing they are still north of us. Our season has been hit or miss. we have had good guning days though. we tried a new filed in baltimore county yesterday and limited out on geese by 9:30. We were on the eastern shore 3 weeks ago and there were huge numbers of birds, geese, canada's & snows, and seen a few good knots of mallards on what looked to be private farms.

Hunted Deal Island yesterday afternoon and saw very few ducks. Managed one hen mallard and missed a pair of black ducks. Saw probably 20 ducks the whole time. Even coming in at sundown there was very little flying. Hope it gets better.

Ditto on the upper shore. Sat we jumped a gang of about 15 blacks off my blind site. Most ducks Ive seen all year in my area. The blacks trickled back over the next hr, coulda taken some pass shots but I was hopin for some tollers over in the decoys. Wont let that happen again, this late in the season. The flats held alot of ducks a couple weeks ago before it froze.

i've seen some ducks in the upper bay, western shore, sea duck zone; not like years past though. i didn't get out last weekend but i could see a few boats out there and they got some shots off! sounded like they were having a blast.

i'm new to the sea duck zone - are you limited to scoters, oldsquaw and eiders? thats whats listed on the MD DNR site. i've seen mallards and even canadas flying around out there - are they off limits? they taste so good...

Nanticoke River around Vienna is worthless for ducks, OK for geese. Hunted Friday & Saturday, saw maybe 30 mallards total (a few bluebills flying around) - killed 9 ducks & 4 geese total. Didn't goose hunt Friday but should have.

Sea duck zone is sea ducks only. Offshore zone, which is a little further out, you can get anything thats legal.

Its been terrible year here in eastern virginia, I hunt on the tidal rivers east of Richmond and our numbers are down 50% from the last four years. It looks like it is back to the grind of the previous ten years. My buddy hunted Quaker Neck and said it was loaded.

Got 4 bluebills in 1/2 hr Monday at the concrete barges--2 of us:thumbup: Thousands of em flyin out there that day--even tho it was flat calm-no wind.

Haven't seen a mallard in the last 4 days in Hawk Cove. There are rafts of bluebills--maybe 200-300 between Breezy point and the island. Ran out to Rocky Point at 9 this morning after I got beat up in my blind:eek2: from the SW wind for 2 hours and saw about 30 buffleheads off the point.

I did see about a thousand geese on Tuesday:clap:--right on the ballfields at Martin State airport--while I was goin to the post office--go figure:confused:

Bright moon, some weather moving in hopefully some ducks will be moving in . Looks like we're going to be frozen out for the Sat. morning. Going to hunt the fields for geese. Just before dark heard some mallards down on the river, choptank , making some noise havn't heard that in about 2 weeks.
