On Saturday afternoon, Plaxico Burress (NY Giants Wide Reciever) and his buddies came fishing aboard the Lady Pamela II. They flew down from New York to get some South Florida sunshine right here in Fort Lauderdale. Live bait was a must this afternoon. We got a dozen goggle eyes and headed out front to pop the kites for the sailfish and mahi - mahi. The bite has been pretty consistent the past few days. However, fishing started off slow, not much was around. BUT Before we knew it, a sailfish ate the right short bait and started jumping. It put on a good fight and a great show....until he fell off. The bait went back out hoping for another bite. We didn't get a sailfish bite, but we did manage to catch a few blue runners and vermilion snappers for them to take home for dinner. We were losing daylight quickly and needed it for the type of fishing we wanted to do. They enjoyed themselves and went home with fresh fish.

I grew up in the same neighborhood as Plax and his brother. I have known his little brother Ricardo since Plax was at school at Michigan State. I have no explanation for what happened with the gun and all, but they are genuinely nice guys. I worked with Ricardo at beach ford for a while when I was a teenager. At the time, Plax was going to school and Ric was working minimum wage washing cars to help his mom pay the rent at their apartment. The two of them dont have a whole lot of family and had a real rough childhood, with Plax's mom (who was a single mother and worked hard to see her boys succeed) died just after her son went pro. My point is that yeah he's rich, but he's been through a lot. Cut him some slack.

I'm cool with anyone who likes to fish. Maybe he should spend more time on the water instead of the clubs. I love to see reports like this vs all the negative **** that gets reported.

I grew up in Kempsville too;but we were bused to Bayside to EQUAL things out. You remeber the days I'm sure. My wife and my first home was in Green Run;we raised our 2 sons there without any problems. During that time I coached youth athletics and had a ball doing it. The down side was watching these kids grow up with little or no LOVE from the parents. Hell I had numerous kids stay at our house for the weekend and not want to go home. The hardest part was seeing potential go to waste over lack of parenting in both athletics and academically. I actually payed for one of my Star Quaterbacks funerals last year at the young age of 18 killed over a bag of weed. What a heart breaker!!
I'd love to take Plax back and watch a Green Run flag football game maybe he'd realize what he is WASTING!!!!!
