I went diving in Tampa in January two years ago and naturally checked out the fishing. The water is fairly shallow on the gulf side and the locals fish alot of small rock ledges.

Once you get down there- just stop in the local shops and ask for some advice. The people there are as friendly as you will find anywhere .

If you like freshwater- you will be in heaven.Lots of clear rivers in the area plus lots of ponds/lakes.

It was funny when the temperature went to about 50* - the locals were buddled up in heavy coats :D- claiming it was freezing.
