I am troubleshooting my Garmin 120, trying to figure out whether the problem is in the power cable.The unit will not fire up at all. I'm trying to figure out how to check the continuity of the cable with my tester. How do I connect the female end to the tester?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Ground the black side of your meter/tester and test each socket in the female end for voltage, you should get 12+ volts on one of them. Then you can turn off your battery switch or the power to the helm, and check for continuity between one of the sockets and ground. If you get both, the unit is getting power. I am assuming you have tried a new fuse.

This is a pretty standard set up for the Garmin connector.
