Lucky enough to get out in the ocean today with some good friends . Lucky enough again to see nature at it's finest . Not a whole lot of fish caught , but enough to take home for dinner . Incredible amounts of bait , whales breaching , and one of the best gannet diving displays that I've seen in a few years , reminiscent of days gone by at the CBBT . Gannets so full of big bunker that they couldn't get their fat asses off the water to get out of the way of the boat . We started off heading for a few wrecks in search of toggies but couldn't get away from all the schools of bunker and the pesky rockfish that were accompanying them
After jigging a few up we headed further offshore to try and fill the larder with the tasty , hard fighting wrasse . It was not to be today boys
We tried plenty of previously productive spots but only managed two keepers all day . I wonder if it was the moon phase
No , probably that every time we went to pull the hook the sonar lit up like a friggin Christmas Tree ! With what ? Big bait and those pesky zebras . I will make this short and sweet . We jigged , trolled and bottom fished today . We caught horndogs , seabass , tog and rockfish . My buddy Dean had his personal best rock on a jig . That alone was worth the trip . Seeing giant whale flukes come out of the water was very cool . Seeing the fishfinder light up in an area where we thought was a wreck
It wasn't the wreck ! It was solid fish from 40' to the bottom which was over 70' ! All I can say is that it was a great day to be on the water . I will post pics in a few minutes . Spoke with and saw Greg (B-Faithful) and they were hooked up a few times as well . I'll let him give you his report . Nice boat Greg !
