Weather has been just to nice today

That said, I have been hitting the practice casting field some of late. Also, took an afternoon 4whl drive down OBX way last Saturday. And today, hit the Spit at lunch for a 1/2hr+ spot check NADA. Again, weather was great and water looked good (little to no grass), but the current was rippin' out and not a bump. I may hit it again tomorrow given historical efforts/records, just closer to the top of the tide ;-)

The two keep off the jetty signs are a reminder of the local civic leagues continued efforts to drive us/the public off the beach and out of their `hood. Albeit City code, these signs didn't show up until after we took them on over, and restored some, limited parking (real public access) on 15th and OV Ave. New part of the waterfront residents private beach playbook, if you can't legally keep the public out attempt to take away the reason they are showing up ~ SAD :nono:

More to come,

Mark

I have not. However, I have heard that they had some nice rock 3-4 weeks ago some pups also cruised thru at one point and of late some a few specks and greys ... everything be caught at the Spit is being kept on the way down low even some of my close friends are with holding catch info from me to preclude the "word" from getting out about fish being at the Spit :nono:

Thing is there is always some fish at the Spit in the spring when the water warms up in March-April so its really no secret by any means, but I understand their desire to keep the hordes of folks off'em plus the Grey bite has been way off the last two seasons there as well :helpsmilie:

Bottom line ya keep an eye on the water temp, go from there, and pay some dues. The Spit can at times be a real good spring time place to shore/surf fish starting with the Rock, followed by the pups, Specks, Greys, flatties, and blues from as early as mid Feb. (if a warm winter) on but more like March thru May ;-)

I cut a shot at it short last night due to the cold wind and a report from a good friend who actually went fishless from 6-8pm last night. Ended up killin' a few b-day beers with him and talking about public access issues (Willoughby Boat Ramp yaker parking and North First St. in Buckroe)

May hit it here in the next few days or over the weekend and if I actually catch something I'll post the info for all the world wide web to know :pp
