Where I grew up in Western PA, they were always ****-E. I never heard of crop-e until I started listening to a radio show produced in Bristol, Conn. They always said crop-e. I guess it is kind of like when Dan Rather changed the pronounciation of Ur-anus to U-ran-us so he would not sound like he was saying a body part on national TV.

it is pronounced both ways in salisbury md,; but mostly ****-e .. An also little know fact about this area to include a very small region both north and south is that it is the only place on the planet that i know of where a restuarant will serve grits and scrapple for breakfast.

I used to live in Florida. Most there seem to say CROP-E.

I actually pronounce it as stated in the dictionary. "Cropee" I wouldnt eat anything the rymed with crappy.
